作為最早成立的中國少數民族自治區，內蒙古自治區保留了大量能反映少數民族風俗和特點的檔案資料，如清廷策封蒙古貴族小札木蘇為札薩克鎮國公的五色五文誥封原件、喇嘛教僧侶的度牒、蒙古烏蘭察布盟六旗札薩克聯名抗墾書、國民政府擬定的蒙古冠服說明及圖示、有關蒙古革命先驅「獨貴龍」運動領導人錫尼喇嘛的資料等，當中不少檔案更以蒙文、滿文和日文書寫，非一般教科書或歷史圖冊所能看到，是彌足珍貴的文化遺產。

Across the fertile North China, where wildlife once abounded in this wind-swept grassland, the Yuan Empire flourished in the 13th century.
